#Megacerops was a large rhino-like horse-ancestor alive during the Eocene. Most art of the Megacerops make them very rhinolike, so i wanted to embrace the more horse like quality of fur, got a little bit bison-like, but im into it. #Paleoart

If I had a nickle for every time South America (aka the best continent ever) had a giant, quadrupedal, apex predator crocodile, then I'd have two nickles, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
First Triassic, then Eocene.

@CrownGamer901 Yeah, Chalicotheres & Brontotheres are both closer to horses than to other perissodactyls (despite the latter’s resemblance). Both appeared around the Eocene (56-33.9), but chalicotheres lived until the early Pleistocene while brontotheres appeared and died in that entirety.
Today we had a very special #paleostream! We looked into the anatomy, ecology and phylogeny of #Numidotherium, one of the earliest and WEIRDEST proboscideans ever! It's a roughly tapir sized animal from the Eocene of Algeria, from the El Kohol formation. (1/many)

Results from the last Phase 1 #AtlantisBestiary stream!
We visited the rivers, lakes and caves of Atlantis during the Paleocene and worked on the compilation of all the images with a size chart.

The volcanic habitat has entered, #AtlantisBestiary is a few species richer. Please appreciated the volcanic salmon. (also some smaller updates to the bushlands and uplands).

We had a good first #AtlantisBestiary #paleostream
We explored the reef communities and the shoreline, we also took a look at the swamps but time ran out so we will continue this tomorrow after lunch!
