Dino Fact!
Torvosaurus (Savage Lizard) is a megalosaurid from Late Jurassic Europe and North America! At an average size of 9 meters long, with some specimens reaching near 11 meters, it's one of the largest known theropods of the Jurassic- (1/3)

Out of all the theropods that I scanned at the @nmnh, Ceratosaurus was the one theropod that I looked forward to the most. I cannot wait to do an FEA study on the horned-lizard! (2/2)
And and #Eodromaeus to go with it, two dinosaurs that illustrate how similar the earliest theropods and sauropodomorphs were. So much so that they've both flip-flopped all around in different positions in the saurischia family tree!
Received an ask on Tumblr about what the common ancestor of sauropods and theropods was, so here's a quick #Eoraptor sketch to illustrate the likely appearance of Saurischia Early Alpha Release
forgot I did these! These were some studies for Acrocanthosaurus! One of my favorite theropods
Happy #FossilFriday - ICYMI Naish and Cau @unisouthampton present the osteology and affinities of #Eotyrannus lengi, a #tyrannosauroid theropod from the Wealden Supergroup of southern England

@nbtapioles @AndreyAtuchin interpreted Therizinosaur as a plantigrade dinosaur first in Dinosaur Facts and Figures: The Theropods and Other Dinosauriformes. I don't sure if this interpretation is right but I don't think is impossible.
Theropods: carefully look after the clutch of eggs they lay, even through intense weather
Hadrosaurs: Keep their young close to them at all times to protect them
Sauropods:
@j_stocky This legit looks like a battle between two large theropods in the JP/JW movies.
@Drbarnowl Well thank you very much for the compliment! All I believe I have to advise you is to look at skeletal reconstructions or restorations of theropods in the web and keep trying over and over again. I am sure you'll find it after a while.

My art at 2017 vs 2022
Done with the other Californian dinosaur! Glad to have gotten this Aletopelta commission, it was refreshing to draw something other than theropods.
Dino Fact!
Liliensternus (Lilienstern's One) is a coelophysoid from Late Triassic Germany! It was one of the largest known theropods of its time, with estimates usually around 17 feet long! It's also one of the best known Triassic theropods from Europe - (1/2)

I decided to give this Baryonyx a keratinized schnoz, inspired from the cornified facial integument that’s popular in other theropods. I also borrowed some cranial ornamentation from Riparovenator and Ceratosuchops.
@jutyrannus Not really. We've had semi-aquatic Spino, which actually aged pretty well, & there were semi-aquatic dromaeosaurs. Plus swimming theropods aren't uncommon in paleo-media.
As for the reptile skin, because of it’s further distance from birds on the family tree and fossil evidence, the hadrosaurs seemed to have lacked feathering altogether, a trait most (more or less) theropods had to a degree. (4/5)
Oh hey, the art train actually pulled into my station! And I've got a bunch of theropods ready with tickets.

@Diplotomodon Theropods had to hold an Amargasaurus like this to properly play it.
