With origins stretching as far back as the early Eocene, yet another abberant group of dinosaurs can be found in Sister Earth.
The type genus, Psittacocetus is the largest recorded psittacocetid so far, with elder individuals surpassing the forty foot mark and—

The Eocene world was a different place! 42 million years ago, Diegoaelurus stalked a warm, wet, forested California, hunting prey that may have included early primates and tapirs.
@CrownGamer901 Yeah, Chalicotheres & Brontotheres are both closer to horses than to other perissodactyls (despite the latter’s resemblance). Both appeared around the Eocene (56-33.9), but chalicotheres lived until the early Pleistocene while brontotheres appeared and died in that entirety.
Today we had a very special #paleostream! We looked into the anatomy, ecology and phylogeny of #Numidotherium, one of the earliest and WEIRDEST proboscideans ever! It's a roughly tapir sized animal from the Eocene of Algeria, from the El Kohol formation. (1/many)
Biological Advantage.

Results from the last Phase 1 #AtlantisBestiary stream!
We visited the rivers, lakes and caves of Atlantis during the Paleocene and worked on the compilation of all the images with a size chart.

The volcanic habitat has entered, #AtlantisBestiary is a few species richer. Please appreciated the volcanic salmon. (also some smaller updates to the bushlands and uplands).

We had a good first #AtlantisBestiary #paleostream
We explored the reef communities and the shoreline, we also took a look at the swamps but time ran out so we will continue this tomorrow after lunch!

My entry to the #AtlantisBestiary , aquatic fauna of the Pavlopetri formation a lagerstätte which gives us an insight into the diversity of live in the coastal ecosystems of Late Paleocene Atlantis and which species called these ancient coasts home:

The primitive whales of Late Eocene Egypt. A family of Basilosaurus cruise along near the surface, while a pair of smaller Dorudon swiftly pursue fish through the sunlit waters of the Tethys sea.
New design! Brontotheres were rhinoceros-like animals that lived about 56–34 million years ago (during the Eocene). They're related to rhinos, horses, and tapirs and came in a variety of shapes and sizes. Included in our latest Sticker Pack: https://t.co/5ib7tCDwcm
For the final #FossilFriday of #Arachtober - and given it's nearly halloween - let's meet a fossil parasite! This beautiful tick was preserved in Eocene (~44–49 million year old) amber, and was reconstructed in 3D by using high resolution CT. Fossil left, digital render right.
