This #IslandFaunaWeek wouldn't be complete without the fauna of the Langenberg quarry. Not in here are animals which are known from other localities as well.

Such arrangement would have allowed air to circulate inside the air cavities of the bones. The research further shows that vertebrae of this pterosaur are generally more pneumatic (contain more air) than those of the large sauropods.

3: The Last Morning
T- 1 hour to Impact.
As dawn breaks on the last day of the Cretaceous, what looks like a second sun flashes in the sky. In the American Southwest, a herd of Alamosaurus browse the edge of a forest while Ojoceratops graze. Birds and pterosaurs soar overhead.

Scaphognathids are one of best pterosaurs, smol, short snout, big eyes - underappreciated

Hey, hey, it's time for yet another #NonDinosaurOfTheWeek!
Today'S NDofW is... Azhdarchidae!
Some species of this pterosaur group were one of the biggest flying creatures to ever exist! Their wingspan could achieve around 10 meters!
Spending my day working on a #paleoart commission of darwinopteran pterosaurs - critters like Darwinopterus, Kunpengopterus, and Cuspicephalus (below). These are fun animals to draw thanks to having all the best bits of pterosaur anatomy: big heads, big crests, and long tails.
For #FossilFriday, some #paleoart from 2016: the azhdarchid that would eventually become Cryodrakon is scavenged by a variety of dinosaurs and pterosaurs. I should do top-down views more often, they're fun to execute and interesting to look at.
This a pretty cool pterosaur! Welcome to Kariridraco dianae by Cerqueira et al. in: "A new azhdarchoid pterosaur from the Lower #Cretaceous of #Brazil and the paleobiogeography of the Tapejaridae" - https://t.co/i75nq7uKvc

With the focus on Ubirajara lately, I think it's a good time to point out that the AMNH has a large collection of Brazilian fossils that were acquired illegally. It includes pterosaurs like this Anhanguera sp. (AMNH 22555) as well as a multitude of fishes and invertebrates.
