4. Do visual novels count? Especially ones that get a lot of flack? bc DRAMAtical Murder is both. Despite being a yaoi game, I found it to have humor, fascinating characters & a story that integrates Buddhist concepts. I personally love the bright 80s aesthetic and unique music.
