One of the defeat animations in Mario Party 8 causes the characters to shrink until they vanish. Viewing the animation in the game's debug mode shows that it shrinks the characters' models unevenly, with the effect being most pronounced for Wario (note his extremely small legs).

This guy was supposed to be the last character to join your party, late in the story. But because it wasn't finished yet, he was only obtainable in the "Debug room". Big cool dude, absolute powerhouse. But now he is an old man lol. Still STRONK af in battles tho.
@rwilson_design You've got some good answers already but figured I'd post my temp un-optimized one in case it helps at all. I basically do a "wall" of rays, then for each row I average out potential valid points to start doing the sweep oriented tests (the white debug point).
