Yes, not necessarily. Technically speaking Digimon are always adding data absorbing them from the environment and removing data in order forms. Sometimes the data absorbed grants substantial differences since this one, but that is not always the case.

"Godzilla" (1998). Although I enjoy the majority of its peers, this really hits home in showing Godzilla as a thinking creature, visibly adapting to the human environment. Although I didn't realise it at the time, it evokes "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms" - my first Kaiju movie.
