The French Caribbean's wilds are defended by a couple, each defend different areas. The waterways are guarded by Mama D'Leau, like a mermaid with serpents in her hair. Her husband Papa Bois defends the woods and wild places on land, satyr-esquely

I live near a waterway and I see these things all the time. It's like a lazy surfboard and an incomplete boat, more awkward than either one, and they just look silly.

So I'm putting Derec's dad on one in weird pink fruit swim trunks, of course.

The Common Loon lives on lakes and waterways throughout Canada, the northern US, and along the souther coast of Greenland and Iceland. They are master divers, capable of diving 200ft down to catch prey. The Common Loon was made the state bird of Minnesota in 1961

Kawa akago are a type of from believed to be related to kappa. They appear as red-skinned babies, lurking in the reeds near waterways. They cry out, sounding exactly like a real baby, to lure passers-by closer to the water's edge.
