Released 35 years ago this month, The Arc of Yesod is a platform and exploration arcade adventure from Odin Computer Software. Very similar to its predecessor Nodes of Yesod, it contains lovely graphics and absorbing gameplay and scored highly in ZZAP!64 earning a 91% Sizzler.

Yeah? Wow, I hadn't heard of it having that effect. 🤔 It certainly would have been awesome if the frame rate were higher. But I had the game and the Zzap64 maps and was determined to complete it. 😁 I did reach the many-headed dragon at the end. I can't remember if I beat it. 🤣

Huh.. I think I've only tried one in that set.
Probably because arcade conversions tended to me kinda bad, more often than not. (Most of the only arcade ones I tried, I only got after a favourable recommendation from Zzap!64. 🤓

It's well worth checking out the adventure sections in the new mini Crash (issue 2) and ZZap! 64 (issue 1) magazines.

35 years ago this month one of the C64's biggest disappointments hit the shops. The official Back to the Future game was a dismal affair and was awarded just 32% by ZZAP!64. Thankfully coder Martin Walker went on to much better things.

35 years ago this month, the ZZAP! team dished out two Gold Medals - one for Bounder and another for The Eidolon. Fight Night and Revs also received Sizzler ratings. Other notable games reviewed this month included Rambo and Commando - though both received only moderate scores.

It was a great pleasure to interview Roger M.Kean and Oli Frey in 2018 for the 80 minute interview 'Game (not) Over'. Sadly the new "Zzap!64 annual 2021" will be his last. Support the project and let's give Roger a great send off & make him proud!

I didn't remember that it scored so highly. 😮 That's pretty close to Gold Medal scoring. 👍
Spy vs Spy 1 and 2 were unusual in that I bought both of them before seeing the Zzap!64 review, which might explain why I don't remember the review well. There was nothing else like them.

Entombed was great fun.
I really had no idea where I was going, coz I didn't get the change in perspective. But once I had the Zzap64 maps, I really knew where I should be heading. (No idea how to complete it without cheating though.. too many suicidal creatures coming at ya.) 😁

is trending again. It must be the comeback of the classic beat 'em up I coded.

Do you still miss the thrill of receiving your fave 8-bit magazine? We do, so we thought let's bring that feeling back. You heard it here first...Crash, Zzap 64 and Amtix could be returning, but we need your help.

Huh.. even with collecting Zzap!64 since issue 1 (..starting to lose interest when the Amiga branding was added), I don't remember anything about these trophies. That's quite cool. I really liked Karnath, Underwurlde, and Entombed (despite how cruelly hard they were.) 😁

I loved all the 8-bit Dan Dare games I played. They had such a beautiful cartoon-y quality about them. And the cover-art that adorned Crash + Zzap for them was gorgeous. 👍

Loved International Soccer ⚽️ .. also loved International Basketball. 🏀 Oddly enough, I never tried International Tennis 🎾 despite seeing the glowing review in Zzap!64. 🤔 Probably coz I never gravitated towards sports games, and already had Match Point, which was okay. 👍
