#FossilFriday Branneroceras, a Late Carboniferous goniatite. Part of a large block of limestone packed with this ammonoid on display at the NIGPAS museum in Nanjing.
Here’s a WIP because it’s #FossilFriday and #DinosaurDay!
A fun #paleoart comparison for #FossilFriday: Pterodactylus restored by Jean Hermann in 1800 vs. Pterodactylus restored by me, 220 years later. Hermann's pterosaur is the oldest known 'legit' piece of palaeoart - a fossil-based life reconstruction based on science, not mythology.
The awesome skull of the Brontothere, Megacerops. Distantly related to horses and rhinos, this beast lived in North America around 35 million years ago! #FossilFriday

I'm in whale mode right now for research, so gonna share one of my favorites for #FossilFriday-- Remingtonocetus. Sounds very proper, I would absolutely have tea with Remingtonocetus (named for Remington Kellogg). It's a freshwater or coastal, early whale from the Middle Eocene.

New paper by ME (and @dcpaleo & Federico Anaya) for #FossilFriday! It's been such a boring week in #paleontology so welcome my two new 13 Ma kids Olisanophus riorosarioensis (L) and Olisanophus akilachuta (R)!
Some new #paleoart for #FossilFriday. This 2018 Irritator image was destined for a future book, but it's now superfluous thanks some study or other that came out this week. This is a substantial update on a scene from my 2013 pterosaur book. Tapejara and Anhanguera also feature.

Spinosaurus are the weirdest dinosaurs, and the latest research advocated that the tail structure could have been an excellent swimmer.
I want to see them and @Nigelmarven swimming together in the Prehistoric Park sequel.
