Yeah... I never really found the "zen" in it. But the truth is, there's really no perfect weighting solution when you're rigging an anime model, because the faces are what I call "based on a true story".

If topology is "The Science of Skin", anime fails the course.

Been making more progress on actually rigging and setting up my character. I did some topology checking only mildly but I mainly was reworking how Id rig him using IK. Next step is to bone each of his fingers and give his clothes/tail some kind of physics.. not even sure how

For now I didnt retopologize her since It's not the final version of the sculp and so I just decimate the mesh for my simulation on the cloth ^^

I will have to sculpt on the pant to fit strap

Older work, just reuploading some of it because it's Twitter things disappear on here quickly. Triangle count was too high for this and I made this before fixing a lot of what I knew about proper topology. But it does theoretically "work" if you plop it into an engine hahah.

Blog - Prepping assets is fun!

Especailly when you hardly need to UV, worry about topology, nor have to worry about unique materials for everything. I love this project!
