Ah yes, Notocolossus. Probably the largest dinosaur you’ve never heard of. Discovered by Bernardo González Riga(pictured) and described by a team including Matt Lamanna, this giant has one of the best preserved sauropod feet ever found. #SauropodSunday #dinosaurs #paleontology

As for #dinosaur mating trace fossils, for 'Dinosaurs Without Bones' I illustrated possible (speculative) diagrams of track patterns representing such behaviors in theropods (L) & sauropods (R), in which the beasts with 2 backs would result in 4 & 6 tracks. #ichnology 2/2
DINOTOBER day 28: APATOSAURUS
Apparently there's still squabbles over the Apatosaurus/Brontosaurus stuff with the classification of species? I'd always given up on Bronty. The Sauropods in general were all kinda boring in the head department, but had to include at least one more
Pastel Paleotober Day 26: Amargasaurus 🦕
Amargasaurus was an early Cretaceous sauropod from Argentina. While not as long as some other sauropods, its neck sported extended vertebral spines which, unlike spinosaurus and dimetordon, are not thought to have supported a skin sail.

First time I combined Adobe Animate and After Effects, inspired by the awesome work of @StievenVdP!!! Check out his beautiful dioramas!

Sure you know Madagascar and Hateg Island, but few are aware of the Triassic islands that were once located on the territory of the British Isles.
Here a number of animals that were found there.

Such arrangement would have allowed air to circulate inside the air cavities of the bones. The research further shows that vertebrae of this pterosaur are generally more pneumatic (contain more air) than those of the large sauropods.
More #IslandFaunaWeek stuff

“Sauropods have been dealing with their carnivorous cousins from almost the beginning. But there’s never been a theropod quite like Tyrannosaurus rex.”
From SAUROPODS by @TedRechlin & @DoubleBeam.

#SAUROPODS was a great project to work on with @TedRechlin & @rextoothstudios. I've had a lot of awesome pics taken, but this is the 1st time I've been immortalized in comic book form! 🤣 Comic me even has the identical 🦕 belt buckle!

I nearly forgot about #SciArtSeptember! Now I have some catching up to do.
#4 is "Massive" -- sauropods are definitely my favorite massive subject matter to illustrate! 🦕

@TedRechlin @rextoothstudios The #Morrison_Formation is often referred to as the "Golden Age of Sauropods". The famed and iconic #Apatosaurus, #Brachiosaurus, #Camarasaurus, & #Diplodocus (along with many other 'pods!) all called the Morrison Formation home.

#Spectember Day 2:
"In another time, at another place, it's the early jurassic in what is now South Africa. A pair of heterodontosaurs keep close to the shadows of the local giant herbivores. But these are not the early sauropods of our planet."

Ep.9 of #ChasmoPodcast is here! Two Xinjiang sauropods, Phiomicetus, & @WryCritic's pterosaur primer in the news. Marie Hubrecht's Verdwenen Werelden is this month's VDA, and Niels interviews David James Armsby, creator of the animated Dinosauria series!

Dino Fact!
Yunnanosaurus (Yunnan Lizard) is a sauropodomorph from Early-Mid Jurassic China! It was one of the last "prosauropods" to ever live! It's believed to primarily be quadrupedal, but like other prosauropods, could also stand on two legs!
