When it comes to "fish parasites", lampreys take the (fish) cake. Sea lamprey (Petromyzon marinus) feed on a fish’s body fluids by digging their mouth into the fish's body + secreting an enzyme to prevent blood clotting, similar to how a leech feeds off its host #SundayFishSketch
For today's #SundayFishSketch I chose to focus on Ommatokoita elongata as seen in Greenland Sharks.
The rather charming Balloon Lumpfish for yesterday’s #SundayFishSketch , movie fish theme. These cuties are similar to the main fishy character in Studio Ghibli’s Ponyo . Fun theme to come back to after some challenging months. #fishart #procreateart #sciart
For the #SundayFishSketch theme of movie star fishes, I drew a hammerhead shark, one of the stars in Sharknado. #Sciart
Here is my #SundayFishSketch of my beloved Atlantic halibut. I made a bunch of them before choosing my favorite one. The texture of the watercolor paper is just so satisfying 😌

As I start my new job with @ILINSeaGrant and @INHSillinois tomorrow, a moment to reflect on my dear Lake Michigan yellow perch for this week's "Fish I've Studied" theme #SundayFishSketch
Wish list shark species for this weeks #SundayFishSketch. A repaint of an old painting I did a few years ago.
My background is fine art so I have never studied fish before, but I think the Devil's Hole Pupfish would be a very strong contender. #SundayFishSketch
This week I drew a crossover event with my #SundayFishSketch and my work on @octopolis_comic— a fimbriated moray doing some cooperative night hunting with an octopus friend.
An ornamental Sumatra barb for this week's #SundayFishSketch.
These little fish are mid water swimmers in aquariums, so they're a great addition to community tanks with surface level and floor level inhabitants! https://t.co/tnvcVruVde
Comic-con put me way behind on my #Sundayfishsketch so here’s a quick ‘False Boarfish’ seen on the recent @oceanexplorer #okeanos dive. These bathypelagic fish raise their dorsal spines to assert their territory
Reposting this Great Blue Spotted Mudskipper from last year for this week's #SundayFishSketch theme of "fish that like warm tropical waters". This species lives in mangrove systems in parts of Peninsular Malaysia and Indonesia.
@portfolioday #PortfolioDay My name’s Kris, and I draw to help myself better understand different things—as well as unwind! I’ve never gotten a request for art, and tbh, I’m pretty busy with work. HMU at my Insta at drkveeveesketch. #SundayFishSketch is a happy place too :).
Cookie cutter sharks have a cute name, but in between being deep sea fish and sharks (and looking weird as heck), I wouldn’t eat one! #SundayFishSketch
The extinct Eusthenopteron foordi (I hope I spelled that right) for today's #SundayFishSketch theme of fish that I wouldn't eat
Sort of on-theme #SundayFishSketch, bluntnose minnows can live up to five years, but they're also one of the most popular bait fish, so they'd have to dodge a lot of predators' mouths to reach those advanced ages!
