Day 1 of #Spectember: Terrestrial cetacean
The Shovel-faced Bogpoirse is a species of burrowing cetacean from the distant future that uses hardened hairs and iron reinforced teeth to dig through the soils of the wetlands it lives in, where it preys on burrowing invertebrates.

A Coal Grunter about to dine on prawn for #SundayFishSketch #Fishytheme feat. a fish & their invertebrate prey. They’re predatory fish & particularly dig prawns. It was suggested a while back to draw this Australian freshwater fish by a fan of my art. #InverteFest @NiloSinnatamby

Our new paper in @JVP_vertpaleo descrive a huge (5.18m marlin!) vertebrae. We start to understand why some marlins grow so big and others are smaller and this information reinforce our recently published phylogeny in @JournalSystPal. https://t.co/6RmQFpriXl

Our results challenge the hypothesis of an escalation of Palaeozoic marine ecosystems and shed light into the factors that determined the disparate palaeobiogeographic patterns of micro vs macrosquamous armoured Palaeozoic jawless vertebrates. Ilustration by @metazoastudio

Ecdysis is the moulting of the cuticle in many invertebrates of the clade Ecdysozoa, fascinating isn't it? The process can be quite troublesome indeed, do you wish to witness it?

#InverteFest is happening soon. If you're new here, it's a periodic event where we celebrate the often-overlooked invertebrates around us. This thread covers the details of the event, so keep reading!
@wowinteresting8 Not really, you shouldn't touch vertebrae muscles and tendons if you don't really know what you are doing.
Do follow the red muscles when massaging.
Do not touch white areas without expert knowledge.
