Today's illustrations are by American artist, Scott Gustafson. Inspired by the Golden Age of Illustration (Rackham, Dulac), he has created art for fairy tales, Peter Pan, and the works of Edgar Allan Poe.
Anton Pieck's illustrations closely resemble those of Rackham. His fantastical images were realised in the Dutch theme park "de Efteling", which he largely designed.
For a 1935 collection, he illustrated 16 of Schubert's songs.
Can you name the songs to these drawings?

Outside, the morning has been dreary & rainy, but inside I have been lost in the magical illustrations of Lisbeth Zwerger. She is an Austrian artist who credits Arthur Rackham as being the inspiration for her going into illustration. She has illustrated fairy tales to Dickens.

When it comes to folklore on-stage, they don't come much more rooted in traditional folk tales and legend than the operas of Richard Wagner.
Arthur Rackham perfectly captured the magic of the Ring Cycle (Der Ring des Nibelungen) in this series of illustrations.

FAIRIES & BATS. Arthur #Rackham's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' (1908) shows fairies warring with #bats in a bid to steal their 'their leathern wings' . Elsewhere in John Ansteer Fitgzerald (1819 – 1906) bad fairies spear bats - Hey fairies leave those bats alone!! #BatsUnited
