The mural, Charter Making by David C. Lithgow, was displayed in the NY Building at the 1939 World’s Fair in Queens, NY. The mural was later transferred to the NYSM where it was on display until 1976. NYSM staff are working to get this mural conserved and put back on display.

Artist & activist Joe Jones 1909 in St Louis, Missouri. Largely self-taught, he left school at 15 to work as a house painter. He lived for a while in a houseboat & painted several New Deal murals.Although a communist he was enlisted as a combat artist during WW2.

So our lovely heron had to fly away to make room for another mural. Anyone in the arts district have another little spot for him to land? He told me he doesn’t have to have a fancy background like this, but it’s always good to have the heron on watch. .

Eva was an American painter, printmaker, muralist, illustrator and bookbinder.

Eva Auld and Ernest Watson married in 1911. Their summer home in Monterey, Greywold, became their studio where they printed and sold their block prints.
