A HUGE part of the look of Entergalactic was to get “illustrated form” into the texture maps.
my paintovers are on the left, their first pass on the right. this showed how we needed a certain amount of the lighting and form actually painted into the color maps

so whenever I make OCs, or draw them, I try and play around with gradient maps, different colors, complementary colors until I like them all together! I'm a big fan of more muted palettes with pops of color (like Ezra is nearly 99% dark purple/blue, but the golds/red - ) (3/?)
