Trying out some new things with my art style, especially with the shadows. Trying to blend a more cartoony style with that painterly touch. Needs more exploration, but I'm happy with the current results!

I love the effect for the freckles here! It feels much more natural here than the circular ones did. Making the gradient from dark outer leaves to a lighter center makes this feel 3D in a way that humanoid faces have to do with highlights and shadows. This is real growth! (5/5)

i did my due diligence and did a renderer with a regular clean lighting model.

first pass dot product lighting approximation, a little ambient kick, fake ambient occlusion and hard shadows. (with, of course, unreal color grading because it's me)
