This drawing depicts Smol Erika attending her sports afternoon in the 1940s, her sports uniform consisting of a white molded-collar tank top and a pair of black shorts, a glimpse into Erika's budding athleticism and zest for life in a bygone era.
Towing gliders with a long wire could be a dangerous business, so this 'short tow link' was experimented with in the late 1940s, using a Curtiss C-46 and a WACO CG-4 glider.

The scene of the aerial assault is particularly impressive. The animators had access to Disney movies of the 1940s, which are the only comparison in terms of storytelling and technique. But it's only rarely derivative, drawing heavily on domestic animation history.
