The Regency: The London Royal Philharmonic Society held its first concert on this day in 1813, playing pieces by Hayden and Beethoven. They had asked Beethoven to come, but he couldn't due to poor health. The orchestra performed in the Argyll Rooms on Regent Street until 1830.
