例えばエーギロカシス(1)、フルディア(2)とパーヴァンティアはいずれも縦長い甲皮だが、前部付属肢は大きく異なり、前者は外洋性の濾過摂食、後者は底生生物を摂るのに適した形である。どころか、フルディアだけでも甲皮が横に広く特化した種もある(2, 右下のHurdia triangulata)。

Pahvantia hastata, a hurdiid Radiodont from what would eventually become the Drum Mountains of Utah, some 504 million years later. Done for as a thank you for a Hurdia victoria model.

The Burgess was home to several genera of Hurdiid anomalocarids, which survived by filtering food out of the fine silt, brine seeps, and water column, using comb-like frontal appendages. These include Peytoia, Stanleycaris, two species of Hurdia, and Cambroraster elsewhere.
