India before arrival of the Mughals👇India was incredibly rich in everyway. The destruction by Mughals & Britain to India was catastrophic. They attacked because they can't even dream of matching Hindu Dharma. India has the best Culture. Keep the Heritage Alive. Keep Preserving.
There were 4 tasks that Sher Shah Suri on his deathbed regretted he was unable to accomplish.
*To shift the Afghans of his native Roh to Punjab as a shield against the Timurid-Mughals.
*To raze Lahore so that such a great city might not exist as an easy prey for the Timurids.
@Muhammad1944 Another good one. Mira Muhammad Hakim, brother of Emperor Akbar, he along with his mother Mah Chuchak Begum ruled Kabul independently and was a constant thorn in the side of the Mughals. We dont have art for Hakim yet, but we have done art for his mother which I love

to start off, Malik Ambar was the person who renewed my fascination with South Asian history. Born in Ethiopia, and brought over as a slave, he rose to be the regent of Ahmednagar, keeping the Mughals out until his death
When Child, Joseph Child Governor of East India Company waged a War Against Badshah Aurangzeb.
Le at the end
company was fined 150,000 rupees (roughly equivalent to today's $4.4 million). Company surrendered and Beg for Mercy. The company's apology was accepted By The Mughals.
There are many Mughal miniatures of emperors holding spinels.
Spinels look like rubies but they aren’t, they were prized by the Mughals for their talismanic qualities in battle. Many are inscribed with names of emperors.
Timur Spinel (Pic 4) is said to be the largest one.
Today (21st Sep 1687), the Timurid - Mughals under the command of Aurangzeb capture the fort of Golconda after an 8 month long siege.
This victory expanded the Mughal domains further south & brought to an end the Qutb Shahi dynasty.

Composite figures are a popular subject in Indian painting, especially in the 16th and 17th centuries.
These art forms are already there in Hindu religious contexts.
The Mughals made it popular.
Not sharing the erotic composite art bcoz of Twitter moral policing.

In spite of their declining fortunes, the later Mughals continued to have equestrian portraits of themselves made, in the manner of their great ancestors. Here Shah Alam II rides a beautiful grey stallion. Collection of @mfaboston
upon which the Mughals built the Purana Qila or the Old Fort (which was the inner citadel of the city of Dinpanah).
There is another theory which suggests that the mound which might have contained the ruins of Indraprastha was not the one upon which the Purana Qila was built(4/n)

In unrelated news, this remains one of my favorites to draw! Album artwork for Patari's first album that was called "The Originals", so obviously I drew the Mughals. (The clothes! The haathi! The tattoo!)
The #Mughals relished their favourite addiction (Mango) with #Jahangir and #ShahJahan awarding their khansamahs for their unique creations like Aam #Panna, Aam ka Lauz and Aam Ka Meetha #Pulao, a delicate #mango dessert sold all through the summer in #Shahjahanabad.
