Elendil, o Alto, filho de Amandil, último senhor de Andúnië em Númenor, descendia de Eärendil e Elwing (assim como Elrond e Elros), mas não era da linhagem direta dos Reis.
O nome pode ser interpretado tanto como "Amigo-dos-Elfos" ou como "Amante-das-Estrelas".

Fun Fact: The downfall of Númenor actually started out as an attempt by #Tolkien to write a time-travel story (spurred on by C.S. Lewis, who would go on to write a space-travel story).
The Professor got a few chapters in before the story “ran dry”.
@vizantinac_ @armelh @TeawithTolkien You might want to check at what latitude Númenor was placed. That's the same as Far Harad. And West Sahara, northern Mauretania or central/southern Algeria. Even if the first Númenoreans were eggshell white when they arrived, their descendants probably weren't 3000 years later
