18 Aug 1780 Fishing Creek, SC. Col Banastre Tarleton &350 Loyalists surprise a Patriot force under Gen Thomas Sumter, 40 miles from Camden, killing 150, wounding & capturing 300, & freeing 100 British prisoners. Loyalists lost just 16 killed.

4 Jun 1781 Charlottesville, VA. Capt Jack Jouette warns Gov Jefferson & VA Assembly just before Lt Col Banastre Tarleton’s column rides into town. A few Assemblymen are captured (incl Daniel Boone) but Jefferson & most escape.

Banastre Tarleton lost two fingers from a musket ball received in his right hand during the Battle of Guilford Courthouse on 15 Mar 1781. Henry Knox accidently shot off two fingers on his left hand on 24 Jul 1773 age 23. Neither man is hiding his wounded hand in their paintings.

13 December 1776 General CHARLES LEE is captured by British forces led by Banastre Tarleton. Lee was caught some distance from his army, frequenting a tavern/inn operated by the comely Widow White. Perhaps he needed her home cooking?

2 July 1779 in was the Battle of Pound Ridge. His 1st command, BANASTRE TARLETON led Loyalist forces on raid. BENJAMIN TALLMADGE led Sheldon's 2nd Light Horse in opposition. British captured Tallmadge letters re Culper Spy Ring.
