John became fascinated with Norse history and produced a lot of material on Viking Caithness. I've seen one of his books on Dwarig (Dwarwick) Head and the Norse rituals he believed happened there.

The Achavanich Beaker, discovered during an excavation of a burial cist in 1987. The cist was unusual in that it was dug into the Caithness flagstone bedrock, a process that would have involved moving 3.4 tones of stone to create a pit. Full detail here https://t.co/BaFDwh9uRE
