I once had an Epileptologist explain that during a synapses in the brain are opening and closing repeatedly, releasing most of the person’s Dopamine & Serotonin supply all at once. This explains the depression that comes in the days/ weeks to follow.

When a ends, the postictal phase occurs - this is the period after the seizure. Some people recover immediately while others take hours to feel normal. Full recovery from a seizure can take anything from a few hours to a week.
