Late posting for the January #BirdWhisperer prompt is my sketch of the Eurasian jay (Garrulus glandarius). This member of the crow family will imitate the vocalizations of birds of prey such as mewing like a common buzzard and cackling like a northern goshawk.
Stable Diffusion prompt: ethereal Bohemian Waxwing bird, Bombycilla garrulus :: intricate details, ornate, detailed illustration, octane render :: Johanna Rupprecht style, William Morris style...

"Formosan Jay, Garrulus taivanus"
#Taiwanese subspecies of the Eurasian Jay. Published in "The Birds of Asia" by English ornithologist John Gould (1804–1881) with notes provided by naturalist Robert Swinhoe (1836–1877). #Taiwan https://t.co/D0wu19O70u
This is the #Jay, #Garrulusglandarius. I only just found out that "glandarius" means "of the #acorn" which is very pleasing as acorns make up a big part of the jay's diet. Jays have been implicated in the spread of oak forest post ice age cause of their habit of storing them
Can't believe it's been two years since we had a large flock of #waxwings here in Banchory! Signed, Limited Edition prints of these watercolours are still available at £75. Both 55cm x 41cm. Message me if you would like one. #birdart #wildlifeart #birdart #Bombycillagarrulus
Day 21 Waxwings are associated with children's whistles and... behaving wierdly after eating overripe berries in winter.

In the late 18th century, Ferdinand Bauer painted this European roller, 'Coracias garrulus', for a never-published companion volume to John Sibthorp's 'Flora Graeca'. https://t.co/ppdXrpAmqc
