I painted this when I was 18.

Unfinished and damaged (I decorated a wall, and she got splattered), it was partly a self-portrait, but I wanted to try to capture Fuchsia.
I'll be 62 tomorrow. Maybe I should now try to finish her?

TBH, I felt foolish continuing my Gormenghast portraits after seeing the gorgeous books from and Dave McKean. They are achingly good.

But - my love of the Groans outweighed my imposter syndrome.
