here's some OC/worldbuilding stuff I haven't shared
a soldier (for contrast) and a battle monk of Laurentia
despite their name battle monks rarely do any battle and never use their weapons unless they have to sacrifice agonizing soldiers
they are armored and equiped to survive ++

Visited a certified banger this morning. Michelangelo’s Laurentian Library; I’ve been before but struck this time by its wonderful materiality, the grey pietra serena, which Michelangelo described as edible, offset against incredibly roughly plastered walls. Good as it gets.

I thought I was looking at my Laurentian tiger beetle illustration for a moment. The commissioner supplied a similarly-posed photo. They're such cool insects.

It's a rare but very productive occasion when my client can sit next to me at my desk and we can make edits in real time. Just made a few small tweaks and now I have to paint a habitat for it. - Laurentian Tiger Beetle
