It was hunted extensively in the 19th century to provide plumes for the decoration of hats and became locally extinct in northwestern Europe, they’re of least concern now :)

Is the (a member of the heron family)which nests in the trees down by the river that our stream feeds. I see a pair of them balancing on a branch a little awkwardly whereas at their watery feeding grounds they are grace personified

I saw a bird like this hanging out in a tree outside my room the other week 😗🌳 the internet says it might have been a Little Egret?
