Today's sketch, a macrauchenia because that's what I felt like drawing today.

This leads me to wonder if some giant prehistoric mammals could/did do this too. Especially ones without any obvious weapons. Imagine a Macrauchenia, Toxodon, or a Paraceratherium doing this (art by Mark Witton).

In case y’all missed it, but yeah, this piece is special to me since it originally was from ‘17/‘18 and thought I lost in in a crash. Found a good file somewhere and touched it up. And here’s some rough photomanips I did to figure out the Macrauchenia pelts beforehand https://t.co/1lXrdcXYGl

Fan ARK dossier for Macrauchenia, a strange llama-like animal from the late Pleistocene period. Research indicates that it likely didn't have an elephantine trunk, but it felt like too iconic a design to pass up. (Besides, ARK isn't known for its accuracy lol)

I spent too long making a colored version of Macrauchenia while drawing the previous post's joke, so i'm posting that too; i don't draw prehistoric mammals a whole lot so i'm decently happy with this!

A wonderful commission I received from of Marshmallow as an ice age Macrauchenia, a South American species unrelated to any modern mammal.

Funky weird. Macrauchenia were such amazingly weird animals that lived in South America until just around 15,000 years ago. (Art ) https://t.co/wOPZQwDvOg

Even non dinosaurs get love. The Eopie (first pic) looks like a Macrauchenia, the Dactillion (last pic) is just Tropegonathus with extra limbs, and the Reek (third pic) is like a combo of Ceratopsid and Placerius.

The Aacklay is a Raptor, crab, and Mantis combo too.

Macrauchenia was a South American ungulate that died out 10,000 years ago. It was 3 metres long & had a trunk to keep out dust from its nostrils.

Quick sketch/speed paint of the weird Pleistocene South American liptoptern: Macrauchenia. Usually reconstructed with a trunk, this was most likely not present as the front of the snout is completely covered by bone (unlike in trunked animals)
