To explain Nagamaki(長巻) in more detail

There are two types, a pole weapon and a large two-handed sword.

A weapon that has a longer part than the blade of a japanese sword(=KATANA)

The reason for this is that the word Nagamaki was originally used

Yamazaku Susumu 山崎烝 of the Shinsengumi was a famous user of the nagamaki lit. "long wrap"- kinda like a naginata on an extended sword grip rather than pole.
Possibly derived from Chinese pudao 樸刀, it's what WETA Lord of the Rings elf swords are based off of
