Definitely! I went to an exhibition at Prague's Mucha Museum a few years ago and found likewise: his colours are more muted and subtle than I'd be lead to expect from reproductions. I found them more beautiful.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that I do these for my workplace. I work as a vendor that sells both video games and reproductions.
Please note, I do sell them as such and not as real copies. I get most of them from second hand but I'm learning to make them myself! Have some others!

When I was an art history student, the paintings in the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia could not be reproduced in colour. Barnes himself banned colour reproductions. You only saw them in black ands white. What a shock when I finally saw Joi de Vivre in colour!
