Least sandpipers are the smallest shorebirds in the world. During fall migration, some fly nonstop from New England to South America, a distance of up to 2,500 miles. Not bad for a bird that weighs just a little more than a ketchup packet.

I've been a birder since I was little. But (+ esp. high latitude birds, are my favorite subject to paint.

Must have been rough seas at the weekend - lots of the orangey oarweed (I think) washed up onto the rocks. It’s much bigger than the birds!

Bird 8. Dunlin.
Don't tell the other birds but my favorite group of birds is the shorebirds group. They use that long bill to probe mud for bugs to eat. They are also SUPERPOWEREd BECAUSE their bill is so sensitive they can find bugs via TOUCH! They can forage at NIGHT!
