Looking through some of my older work. This is one of my first ever attempts with oil paint in 1996. I don't have a record of where it is unfortunately. Maybe the Merry Maidens stone circle in Cornwall or somewhere on Dartmoor.

This is A Pena Molexa (co. Narón, According to a legend (one of the many about this place), this stone was raised by an old woman who holds it with her finger. The day she stops doing it, the world will end.

Finn McCools Fingers (or "Shantemon Stone Row") are a set of five standing stones on Shantemon mountain in County Cavan.

Their name is derived from the legend that giant Celtic warrior Fionn mac Cumhaill lost a hand in battle.
