I felt like drawing Tajiri, and I wanted to try it with using less full black areas for shading and letting the colors do it. I only did two or three things like this, so I guess it’s really not my thing! Or maybe I forgot about it.

In creating Pokémon, Satoshi Tajiri was inspired by his love of bug catching. One day, he had conceptual artist Ken Sugimori draw the very first Pokémon. Naturally, in true bug-catching fashion, the very first was a ferocious rock dinosaur.

The rest is history.
