A contact sheet of Sandra Lousada's shoot with James Fox and Sarah Miles.
Don't think I've seen a more vulnerable performance from Lee Marvin than in Monte Walsh. It's a deeply affecting, poignant Western which feels like a farewell to old Hollywood as much as the dying Wild West. Beautiful score from John Barry and support from Jeanne Moreau too.
Absolutely loved everything about Strange Cargo. It starts as a brutal, exotic prison escape drama but gradually becomes a quasi-religious tale of redemption with magical qualities. Especially nice to see a triple whammy of Gable, Crawford and Lorre who are all on top form too.
L'Œil du Malin is a sign of how cold Chabrol would go in his films, following a confused sociopath who will go to unnerving lengths to break up the couple he is jealous of. Surprisingly, its short running time really works, heightening how ruthless and efficient the lead is.
