What would a snow area be without snowmen? Cold. But these friendly faces provide all the warmth you need! Playful snowball fights are their specialty, but their throwing "arm" is too strong and makes it actually hurt. They fall over pretty easily, though.

Who's that beautiful creature in the wind? These pretty plant people have a spinning flower on their heads that gives them the ability to hover. Their leaflike manes act as capes. Being native to snowy climates, blizzard winds are the main way they travel.

These spherical sentries are stationed every so often in various levels. Once it locks on to its target, it puffs up and spews fire out of itself through very fine pores. If you're not on the receiving end, watching one do its job can be mesmerizing.

These simple bivalves mind their own business in Jolly Roger Bay, opening up to reveal their prize and closing again. But wait, this clam looks more like… Clampy from Mario Galaxy?! You sneaky shell, you thought you could switch places and get an early Tweet!

This friendly but grumpy owl can be awoken by Mario climbing its home in one of the trees in Whomp's Fortress. Doesn't he know that owls should be sleeping during the day? Well, since he's already up, might as well help Mario out with reaching a few stars.

The leader of Whomp's Fortress is tired of the mistreatment of rocks. They build our walls, our castles, and pave our roads, but have never even been thanked! He takes his encounter with Mario as an opportunity for revenge to see how he like being trampled.

These savage slabs of stone are variations of Thwomps that can walk around. They put their own spin on "URGH *crushes you*" by fearlessly faceplanting in front of themselves. While strong, the cracks on their backs that become vulnerable show their brittleness.
