010. Spiny
The spikes on Spinies' shells protect them from above, so the usual stomp won't work for them. Their empty shells can be used to make protective helmets in Super Mario Maker, or as high-speed nukes to throw in Mario Kart and end a friendship or two.
🦝
009. Lakitu
These Koopas fly through the sky, throwing the eggs of Spinies down below to hatch. You might be able to ride the cloud yourself if you defeat the pilot! They also act as the hosts of Mario Kart, using a fishing rod to help racers get back on track if they fall.
🦋
008. Hammer Bro
Usually coming in pairs, Hammer Bros are infamously hard to approach in the 2D games with their unpredictable hammer throws and jumping patterns. In Super Mario Bros 3, they roam the map looking for a fight. They even have their own theme song!
🦝
007. Lava Bubble
As their name implies, these fireballs usually live in lava. Most attack by periodically leaping upwards out of it, and some can bounce off of walls and wander around in a zigzag pattern. Close friends can use the nickname "Podoboo".
🦋
003. Piranha Plant
Another classic Mario enemy! This piped plant also likes to appear in Mario Party, Mario Kart and even Super Smash Bros.!
🦋
002. Koopa Troopa
Another of Bowser's minions, and the most common member of the Koopa species. They have very durable shells which they can retract into for protection. The usual shell colors are green and red, but yellow, blue, and more can also be found.
🦋
001. Goomba
Welcome to All The Enemies!
Kicking things off with Super Mario Bros, Goombas are the most basic baddie you can think of. When Bowser first invaded the Mushroom Kingdom, these guys betrayed their home and sided with the enemy. One stomp should take care of them.
