Laika has announced a new stop motion animated film called The Night Gardener. It will be directed by Kubo director Travis Knight and written b Ozark creator Bill Dubuque and is a gritty neo-noir film. All I can say about this is that I am so excited and pumped for this!!
It's really sad looking back how many animated films at 20th Century Fox were canceled when Disney bought the studio cause some could've been amazing. At least some like The Witch Boy, Escape from Hat, and Nimona were rescued by Netflix, hopefully more can be rescued too.
Have a very early design of Ralph from Wreck-It Ralph by Bill Schwab.
Have some concept art of the characters from Encanto by Bill Schwab.
Have some concept art from The Little Mermaid by Kay Nielsen. This was done way back in the early 1940s when Walt Disney considered making the film before it was shelved until the 80s. Nielsen's art was used as reference on the classic 1989 film, long after his death in 1957.
Have some concept art of red panda Mei from Turning Red by Tom Gately.
The next Winsor McCay Award goes to Toshio Suzuki. The long time president and producer at Studio Ghibli, he has helped work on most their films since 1984 and has produced many of them. He was also the person who sent Harvey Weinstein the katana when making Princess Mononoke.
