Outside the Double Dragon series, Ebinuma worked as a fight choreographer on titles such as Shadow Force, Hybrid Wrestler, Slam Dragon (a fighting game directed by Yoshihisa Kishimoto). He also served as planner for Lord of Fist, which was released in the PAL region as Shaolin.
There are other Data East flyers from the same period that seems to had been drawn by the same artist, such as Genesis (released outside Japan as Boomer Rang'r), The Big Pro Wrestling (a.k.a. Tag Team Pro Wrestling), Peter Pepper's Ice Cream Factory and Disco No. 1. 2/2
However, the SMS Shadow Dancer contradicts the box and manual with its in-game attract sequence by revealing the protagonist's name to be Fuma (likely a reference to the historical ninja clan). The attract sequence also shows off the names of the small fry enemy characters. 9/10
@VGDensetsu There's another screenshot in the March '93 issue of Beep! Mega Drive showing a different artwork of Haggar in the time attack mode's result screen. Apparently this was from a WIP build on display in the Winter CES of '93.
Captain Tsubasa is a series of soccer game based on the classic manga. The games were known for their distinctively cinematic approach. The series would go on to the Super Famicom with episodes III, IV and V. However, later games based on the IP were made by other companies. 4/7
It's probably just the quality of the photograph, but Ryu's gi seems a bit blue. In the U.S. version of the deluxe cabinet, Ryu wore a blue gi on the artwork instead of his traditional white.
Who are you, You? The flyers for Captain Silver, Psycho-nics Oscar and 魔境戦士/Gondomania, all Data East games released around 1986-88, feature artwork signed by "You". "You" likely drew other DECO flyers too, but these are only ones I could find with the artist's signature.
Even Double Dragon 3 couldn't keep the Lee brothers' hair/outfit colors straight. The ending image for the arcade version is similar to the boxart for the FC version, while Billy's portrait in the player select screen was lifted from the movie Cyborg starring JCVD.
The cutscene art for the NES version of Double Dragon II seems to be based on prior promo art. The image of Marian is based on the bezel art for the arcade version, while the image of the Lee brothers prior to the final battle is similar to the US boxart for the first game.
