As a kid I found this out the hard way. My friend had the Genesis Jurassic Park, a standard side scroller, and i liked it when I came over. I mentioned it to my parents who got me the SNES version. That game is a mix of a top down shooter with FPS segments.

Beyond the accolades, the game really is fascinating to play now, especially if you're familiar with many JRPGs. It's a prequel for one, but doesnt tell you that. It hints at it until the end. It's also incredibly open, mainly down to how it treats party members and classes.
