My Fave C64 Software Houses No.18

Odin

Odin produced some of the best arcade adventures of the 1980s. Robin of the Wood, Nodes of Yesod, Mission AD, Heartland & Arc of Yesod, were all superbly polished, graphically and sonically brilliant and extremely playable top-notch games.

Cosmi

Cosmi set the standard in the C64’s early years with superb games that stood head & shoulders above the crowd. Aztec Challenge & Forbidden Forest were astonishing in 1983 & 85's Super Huey & Beyond the Forbidden Forrest are top games too.

Wow! I've never seen that before. As you say - looks very very similar!

Martech

Okay, Sam Fox Strip Poker wasn’t a classic but Martech did release some great C64 games. Crazy Comets, Mega Apocalypse & Uchi Mata were ace & I liked Zoids too (TBH I didn’t really know what was going on but the music was amazing!)

The Edge

Mostly associated with the Spectrum, The Edge directly ported a few Speccy games to the 64, including the excellent Fairlight & Bobby Bearing. Other highlights include Inside Outing, Wizardry and the shoot ‘em up R.I.S.K.

Codemasters

Launched in 1986, Codemasters quickly earned a reputation for high-quality, well-presented budget games. Their best C64 releases include BMX Simulator, Slicks & the highly amusing Rockstar ate my Hamster.

Quicksilva

Established in 1979, Quicksilva were one of the UK’s first software houses. Their best C64 titles include the quirky Booga-Boo (The Flea), the charming Rupert games, Tony Crowther's Black Thunder & the C64 conversion of Pac-Land

Domark

Domark released lots of games in the 80s for most 8-bit computers. While some are awful (Hard Drivin’ I’m looking at you), A.P.B and Trivial Pursuit are very good, and Split Personalities is superb - one of my favourite C64 titles.
