For J.M.W. Turner’s birthday I want to share some of his brilliant watercolors that temporarily cured me of crushing winter depression last January in both Edinburgh & Dublin. These watercolors are only on display in January and bring luminous light into a month of darkness.

Albert Pinkham Ryder died in 1917. Sadly, because of his layering of paint upon varnish, many paintings are unstable & cracking—some have even disintegrated.
