Here to talk about the gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth of CONAN comic books!

published three miniseries when they had the trademark license to Howard’s characters around the time of the movie’s release. Nothing since then that I know of. I assume now has the license.

They adapted and “completed” REH’s story fragments “The Castle of the Devil” and “Death’s Black Riders” as well as an adaptation of “Red Shadows.”

Not Conan, but I just love this cover from the Dark Horse Solomon Kane series by John Cassaday.

Version 015: “Glénat Conan”-

French Conan comics (published by Ablaze in English) and directly adapted from REH Conan stories in the public domain.

Version 011: “Conan the Savage Avenger”-

This is the time displaced version of Conan who appears in Marvel’s Savage Avengers, Avengers: No Road Home, and the forthcoming Conan 2099.

Version 004: “Modern Marvel Conan”-

This is the Conan who appears in the most recent CONAN THE BARBARIAN and THE SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN series.

I’m not sure if this and “Classic Marvel Conan” are one and the same. The shared history seems “loose,” so I’m separating them for now.

Version 003: “Classic Marvel Conan”-

This is the version of Conan who appeared in Marvel’s CONAN THE BARBARIAN and THE SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN series beginning in the 1970s, mostly written by Roy Thomas.

Despite being a big fan of Conan and REH, I’m a bit embarrassed to say that I’ve read very little Lovecraft. I just never seem to get around to him. I may be totally wrong, but he seems more of a concept than character guy. Who are his best known characters (not Cthulhu types)?

I’ll never be built even close to Conan, but whenever I finish a workout with weights, for just a brief moment, I feel like the barbarian. I don’t need my heroes to look like or act like me. They’re inspirational, an ideal, unattainable. As they should be.
