The black rat, also known as the roof rat, ship rat, or house rat, love the lemons and other citrus fruits, sometimes leaving hollow fruit skins hanging on the tree. A sketch for the day 11 #Inktober prompt of “sour.” #Inktober2021 @inktober
Kelp and Sea Otter for #SciArtSeptember day 20 word prompt of “Botanical.” Without sea otters eating sea urchins and other invertebrates that dine on giant kelp, the underwater botanical forests could be devoured to non-existence. @liz_lagomorph & @FlyingTrilobite.
Still a day behind in #SciArtSeptember sketches. Here is a quick sketch for the day 16 prompt of “Arid”. Known as the Colorado River or Sonoran Desert Toad, it’s the largest native toad in the U.S. & lives in the arid Sonora desert. @liz_lagomorph & @FlyingTrilobite.
@fish_lines @greyauk @edenart33 @myopiad Thanks for tagging me @fish_lines.
Love to draw fish & other animals, and especially look at the art of these tagged artists I will invite:
@TollefScience @Hidet0shi1 @ceeeeebeeeee @bufotwist @CatharticOutlet
@Briwildlifeart Great artshare shout out. Here is some of my work. Some of these are #SundayFishSketch creations. Thanks for tagging me @MatildasLab
Maybe one of my favorites would care to join in sharing: @CatharticOutlet?
Quick color sketch of a Ruby-crowned Kinglet... truly a fire-headed beauty.
A Crab Plover. They’re found feeding on crabs & other small animals along the coasts & islands of the Indian Ocean. Not really a plover, but more closely related to the Auks & Gulls. It is sufficiently distinctive to merit its own family Dromadidae. Watercolor from my sketchbook.
A quick Great Blue Heron sketch. Worth noting: these birds are so hardy that individuals often remain through cold northern winters, as long as fish-bearing waters remain unfrozen (meaning mostly flowing water such as streams, creeks, and rivers). Pen & ink with color pencil.
The Mountain Goat (Oreamnos americanus), also known as the Rocky Mountain Goat, is the largest of the mammals found in North American high-altitude habitats which may exceed elevations of 13,000 ft. Color pencil and ink study from my sketchbook.
Watercolor of a Clown Triggerfish for this #Sundayfishsketch. I have never sketched Triggerfishes (Balistidae) or Filefishes (Monacanthidae) so the #fishytheme of “Pick a species of triggerfish or filefish and draw away” was a real challenge for me. #sciart
