Merry Christmas from a White-breasted Nuthatch to you and your loved ones. Colorized pen and ink illustration from the past.
Been away from posting for a few. Feeling little inspiration on what to illustrate, & just got a bunch of half-hearted starts-of-drawings. Saw a colorful Plymouth Rock rooster while driving to give blood today so thought I would capture it. What animals inspire you?
For my #8 post, I choose Rhode Island & the Pickeral frog. They like cool, clear water. They breed in both temporary and permanent ponds & specifically in Rhode Island, tadpoles & eggmasses were found in permanent manmade rural, farm, and urban ponds with well vegetated habitats.
For this #SundayFishSketch I chose to do further research on an unknown cichlid. This is the Blunthead Chimba Red. Tropheus moorii is endemic to Africa’s Lake Tanganyika. 40 different color morphs are dispersed throughout the lake, ranging from dark green to flame red and yellow.
The Great Egret (Ardea alba), otherwise known as common egret, large egret, great white heron, or great white egret. It’s widely distributed, found in Asia, Africa, the Americas, & Europe. Look for tree nests in colonies close to water. Watercolor illustration from my sketchbook.
A Whitetail Deer in watercolor. I placed it in a Fall setting even though it was a blazing summer day today. I think it helps to think of cool Autumn days.
Marker Illustration of a Rainbow Trout. I sometimes like to do these types of sketches because they provide simple joy, similar to how I felt coloring pictures as a child.
An abstract bullfrog in color pencil. Playing with some different approaches to color on paper. Might do this again in another technique.
A Rainbow Trout for this weeks #SundayFishSketch. It is actually non-native fish to the waters of Michigan, yet is stocked and sought after by anglers like me.
