@juliusaurus @SenderwalkTest Super Mario Kart released in 1992.
Mario's Tennis released in 1995, AFTER the release of DK'94.
They already had a newer DK Jr design, yet they used the big bulky DK Jr from Super Mario Kart. This was likely intentional.
@juliusaurus @SenderwalkTest There are 2 Yoichi Kotabe renditions of DK Jr.
Young DK Jr from DK'94 and the G&W Gallery games.
And Adult DK Jr from Super Mario Kart and Mario's Tennis, whose build is similar to Classic Donkey Kong.
Not too proud of these, but I really like how Young DK Jr and Baby DK turned out
Just noticed a really odd inconsistency about Tropical Freeze.
In the opening movie, Cranky has hairy eyelids.
I think this might be an error because in every other instance he has skin-colored eyelids. EVEN later in the same cutscene!
Had a dream I was watching someone I knew in school livestreaming her reaction to some weird Eloise cartoon or something, except it might've been CGI?
Anyways, I brought up that one character looked like Mr. Bleakman from Clifford, but I couldn't remember his name (1/3)
@RedGekkouga Yep, ever since Donkey Kong Country he's had flat nostrils on his face. But starting with Mario Party 10, he was given a new, protruding nose right below his eyes.
He's been depicted with a nose like that in 2D art since the early 2000s, but he didn't have it in 3D till 2015
@puyolover @Kimi15221 They removed it in Kirby Air Ride, but brought it back in Super Star Ultra.
Then in Return to Dreamland it was retired for good
@ShezaMonQuay Actually I think DK64 (and maybe Diddy Kong racing?) were the only games to have hairy eyelids for Diddy
@super_caelkins WarioWare is certainly an interesting case, as Kat & Ana had blue eyes, and Penny had Brown.
Then in Gold/Get it Together their eye colors swapped
Here's the art without shading
Sorry for drawing Mario so much recently. I'll try to draw something else next time😬
