#216 Jeanne d’Arc
Summer Jeanne’s somewhat terrifying companion is a dolphin (later shark) named Reece (later Reece XP) is a reference to the Japanese Microsoft Word equivalent to Clippy, a dolphin named Kairu. This is alluded to the fact that Reece wants to “delete you”.
#215 Scathach-Skadi
Another name for Skadi is Öndurguð, which means “ski god” in old Norse. One etymology theory regarding her name is that the original form of “Scandinavia” means “Skadi’s Island”. It could also mean “harm” and is a cognate with the English “scathe”.
#214 The Valkyries
The Valkyries are well-attested to in myth, with over 20 named Valkyries depending on the source. When they are not collecting soldiers from the battlefield, they serve mead to the inhabitants of Valhalla. They are sometimes the daughters of royalty.
#213 Sigurd
Sigurd cannot be easily attested to a historical figure much like his German counterpart Siegfried. It is possible he is based off of Sigebert I, who married a princess named Brunhilda. Much of his reign was embroiled in a civil war against his half-brother.
#212 Napoleon Bonaparte
Napoleon’s height in game is the most commented on, and his short stature in history was likely a myth and stems from British propaganda. He was of average height, but his elite guards were all much taller, making him seem smaller than he actually was.

#210 Okada Izou
While Izou lived in modern times, no photos of him actually exist so it’s impossible to know what he looked like. Initially he was a self-taught swordsman, but later came to be under the tutelage of Takechi Zuizan. (More in alt. text!)
