Early Sneasel:
Sneasel's Gold & Silver sprite was created first, then later, Ken Sugimori changed the design when he made its official artwork. But what if Sugimori HADN'T changed Sneasel's design?

Beta Sneasel:
In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, Sneasel was originally pure Dark-type and much more weaselly. Interestingly, his sprite remained brown even in G&S's final build.

Lost Pokemon of the Day: Kotora family
These electric tigers were created during Gen 1's development, but ended up getting cut. A few years later, they were planned to return in Gen 2... but sadly, got cut again.

Beta Gengar:
With a beta sprite dating back to 1990, Gengar was among the earliest Pokemon ever created. What changed in development? Mostly his eyes, ears, teeth, and chonkiness.

Chinese PokéLeak:
Months before they were officially revealed by Game Freak, concept art for Gen 7's starter evos leaked online out of China. Almost everyone thought they were fake, but they were later proven legit -- they even featured images and text never released officially.
@Supreme_Dalek @Tekayo63 @Robinator777 Nice observation, I think you're right about that actually, good call. I just looked at the whole family's Gold, Silver, and Crystal sprites. There was blue --> green transition from Totodile to Feraligatr in GS, but they were made all blue in Crystal. So I think you called it.
Beta Nidoqueen:
Nidoqueen was one of the earliest Pokemon ever created... but she didn't always look the way she does now. Originally, she was SUPER chonky, and more closely resembled Nidoking.
